Volume 12, Issue 2, Jurnal Plastik Rekonstruksi
On behalf of the editorial team, I am pleased to welcome you to JURNAL PLASTIK REKONSTRUKSI, Volume 12, Number 2, September 2025. This issue represents the dynamic growth of scientific inquiry and clinical advancement in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, while also reaffirming our commitment to promoting rigorous scholarship and fostering innovation.
The contributions featured in this edition span across essential subspecialties and reflect the diverse challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities of our profession.
Reconstructive SurgeryThis section presents two distinctive contributions. The first is a rare case report on the management of cleft lip and palate in four siblings with Van Der Woude Syndrome within a developing country context, offering unique insights into genetic, clinical, and social dimensions of care. The second article describes a dual approach to advanced lower limb lymphedema by combining simultaneous lymphovenous bypass with lymph-sparing liposuction, highlighting surgical innovation and multidisciplinary integration.
MicrosurgeryFour contributions are included in this category. These consist of an evaluation of debulking liposuction in secondary inferior extremity fat–predominant lymphedema using indocyanine green lymphography, a clinical profile of vascular malformation cases from RSUP Dr. Kariadi Central-General Hospital Semarang, and a practical guide on harvesting the deep inferior epigastric perforator free flap. Notably, the latter is presented in the form of a video article, offering readers not only theoretical insights but also practical visual guidance to support surgical learning. Together, these works provide evidence-based knowledge and surgical direction that are of immediate relevance for microsurgeons.
Craniofacial SurgeryA study on assessing ideal lip anatomy through photogrammetry is featured, offering valuable implications for reconstructive and aesthetic practice, particularly within the Indonesian population.
Wound Healing and Experimental StudiesThis section includes a critical article that examines the debated role of branched-chain amino acids in wound healing. By analyzing evidence and dispelling misconceptions, the work underscores the importance of precision in both research and clinical recommendations.
BurnsA systematic review addresses current updates on biomaterials for skin replacement, evaluating biological and synthetic options while identifying both advances and limitations in their clinical and experimental applications.
Aesthetic SurgeryThe final section presents a timely contribution that explores public knowledge, preferences, and perceptions regarding plastic surgery in Indonesia. This sociocultural perspective provides valuable context that complements the technical and clinical discussions presented in earlier sections.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all contributing authors for their valuable scholarship, to the reviewers for their meticulous evaluations, and to the editorial board for their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of academic publishing. It is our hope that this issue not only informs surgical practice but also fosters dialogue, collaboration, and innovation across disciplines and institutions.
With warm regards,
